School Pride Scholarship
My school is honestly the best, I attend Carbondale Community High School, we are known as the Carbondale Terriers! I don’t know anywhere else that has a club that mentors new freshmen who come into the high school to make the transition easier into high school life, I also don’t know any other schools that have clubs like African American history club and women in leadership and international club or sign language club. There is something for everyone. I am really involved in with many of the clubs as well as their astounding music program. At CCHS we have a club called lifesavers and it is a suicide prevention group. I am also involved in freshman mentors and the African American history club as well as student council and the marching terriers, I love my school because where else can you find awesome pep rallies and school spirit weeks where everyone dresses up and gets into it. We had a senior class fund raiser where students put money in jars for the teacher that they would like to see kiss a cow and the teacher with the most money in the end of their jar has to kiss a cow at the pep rally. It was such a great fundraiser and everyone wants to see their favorite teacher or the teacher that they aren’t so fond of have to do something gross like kiss a cow. We always have three spirit weeks a year, those weeks are homecoming week, a winter spirit week which is in January, and one the week of prom. Some of our examples of the day we have had are pajama day, wild wild west day, or some crazier ones like class distinction day where each class dresses up as something, typically freshman are nerds sophomores are twins, juniors are clash and wear things that don’t match at all and seniors wear togas, or we have class color day where each class wears a different color, it’s typically freshman wear green, sophomores wear yellow, juniors are red and seniors are blue. School spirit week is typically the best week of my life, I get to dress up and on the last day, go to the big game and have fun with my friends or play in the marching band at the games. My school just means so much to me and some of my best times happen when I’m at school. Where else can you find a place as awesome is that. I wish I could stay in high school forever just because I had so much fun in my high school years. In conclusion, after everything I’ve told you, you can clearly see why my school is the best around.
